Jaeyeon Park | Fashion Designer

Jaeyeon Park is a fashion designer who was exposed to art very early on as a child. Her father used to draw flower illustrations for her and her little sister while her mother made her paper dolls and tutus out of milk cartons and the petticoat of her old wedding dress. However, Jaeyeon’s love for art blossomed into fashion when she began playing dress-up in her mom’s wardrobe as a teenager. 

| EARLY ARTISTRY

In the beginning of her art journey, Jaeyeon remembered fashion as a vague concept that covered multiple kinds of disciplines. However, after what she says feels like a lifetime in the industry, Jaeyon understands fashion differently, telling us, “I believe fashion is just like any other type of art, a means to express certain inspirations and ideas. When I design, I get inspired by my surroundings. Also, I try to incorporate people’s different experiences and emotions into my collections.”

| OWNING A BRAND

On launching her company “Mutual Sentiment”, Jaeyeon says she was lucky to have supportive friends who gave her words of encouragement, and it was during this period she realized that, “It is one thing to design and another to own a brand”. This is a career obstacle that many artists must learn to balance. However, Jaeyeon triumphed during this period with consistency and a clear brand vision of articulating colorful stories immersed in various moods and textures, as evident in her unique collections.

Much like her devotion to consistency, Jaeyeon has also cultivated a habit of thankfulness in her works. She attributes this quality as the catalyst that has constantly motivated her to become more passionate about her designs and collections. Today, Jaeyeon is an outstanding creative director of menswear, womenswear, and accessories for her Seoul-based brand.
