Linda Schuster | Hair Stylist and Photographer

Luck plays a profound role in all of our lives, and each of us will always experience life changing events that shift the course of our journey’s. These instances can be as simple as a crucial “yes” or “no” at the right time, or as complex as a detrimental financial crisis. It’s the latter situation which guided Linda Schuster into her life as a hairdresser and photographer.

Based in Karlskrona, Sweden, Linda began her career as a building engineer. But the Swedish financial crisis of the 1990s — and its direct impact on the construction industry — drastically altered the direction of her life. It was in this context that at 23, Linda Schuster turned from engineer to hairdresser

| POSITIVE MENTALITY

Her progressive attitude helped her meet the challenge of the time in a productive way. Taking the economic crisis as an opportunity to learn, Linda enrolled in training courses to become a hairdresser. Three years later, she finally entered the profession that had long been her dream vocation. Fast forward to the present moment, and she now runs her own business: Salon Etage, with her colleague Helene and 12 gifted employees. She began applying photography to her craft out of necessity when she couldn’t find anyone who viewed and captured the essence of hair like she did. While Linda has always been engaged with photography, it has been the many hours of diligent practice that have cultivated her unique skills, which will continue to live on and inspire others to embrace their creativity

| ADVICE

Reflecting on her time in training, Linda recalled a substantial piece of advice that every artist can learn from: “Be precise and remember to take a step back from your work”.
